Cat of the week.
Delila. Female, 2-3 years old. Pretty, smokie multi-coloured.

This pretty lady turned up in our garden at the end of one of our neutering campaigns,we don't know where she came from or why she had been abandoned.
She is a very nice cat and finds living with so many other cats a bit stressful. She would be much happier in a home with just 1 or 2 other cats or even on her own. Please contact us if you can offer Delila a home.
DESPERATE FELIX - IS STILL DESPERATE !!
Felix is a lovely young man, great with people but needs to be the only cat because he is not keen on cats (sounds daft but thats Felix).
He has been looking for a home for over 2 years, can you offer him a home or even a nice cosy barn in a horse stable. Since last summer he has been living in a foster cage because of his fighting, he is ready to come to the UK and desperate for love and freedom.

Our Autumn Homeless Cat Neutering Campiagn - Completed.

To prevent more unwanted, neglected kittens from being born into a life of pain and suffering we still need to carry out our large scale neutering campaigns as often as we can.
On November 23rd 2011, the Twinkle volunteers carried out our usual neutering campaign.
In total 306 cats were sterilised, some of which had additional non-routine procedures and an extra 13 cats received treatment only.
Thanks to hard work, dedication and a great team spirit, the campiagn was an amazing success.

We Need Your Help

Titch when he came to us last summer - 2011 Titch in Feb 2012
We love Titch, and so could you. Since coming to us in such a terrible state as a kitten,he has brought us such love and joy,it's so sad that he has never been offered a home and has grown up in one of our large foster cages, because nobody could foster him or offer him a home.
We have hit an all time low in funds but still have over 60 cats at our farmhouse that need us to look after them. One of our biggest heartaches at the moment is that every week we are asked to help another homeless cat or kitten but with no space and no funds for vet bills and extra cat food, we simple cannot manage. Its impossible to say 'no' and put it out of our mind.
We have many cats which are in need of loving homes, some have been waiting for 2 years and are they most adorable cats you could wish for.
Can you help with a donation,no matter how small,or may be you can offer a perminate, careing home.
You can donate by cheque, via your bank or using the donate button paw print on this web site.
Please help us to carry on for another 16 years. The cats and kittens of Fuerteventura need all the help you can give them.
KITTENS ABANDONED LAST AUGUST
AND THEY ARE STILL LOKING FOR A HOME !
Adorable cat & kittens get dumped in the ground of hotel's ! What these thoughtless people do not think about is the reaction of the hotel management and guest's. Sometimes we were called to remove them before they became a problem at the hotel. Many of the hotels that we work with will tolerate a limited number of sterilised cats but if cats and kittens keep being abandoned in their grounds the hotel's could soon be overcome with cats and ban them completley.
Twinkle is not a rehoming centre and cannot take in all the cat's that need help,so we urge these people that keep abandoning their 'pets' to STOP and think about the consequences' of their actions.

Twinkle's Work
Catch/Neuter/Release
Since 1995, Twinkle has carried out a neutering campaign every Spring and Autumn, the aim of Twinkle is to humanely manage the stray and homeless cat population by sterilising as many as we can afford to. Although during our emergency cat rescues and campaigns we do at times end up taking a cat or kitten into our facility, but this is only when the animals life is at risk. There is a lack of good homes offered in Fuerteventura and the cost of rehoming cats to the UK is impractical as a standard method of rehoming and is reserved only for special need cats and very desperate cases.
Unfortunately we cannot take in or rehome cats. Quite simple, we don't have the resources' to do this, as well as doing our best to keep the stray cat population manageable, we also provide dry cat food at our purpose built cat cafes which are maintained with the help of a couple of caring local volunteers.
If you have a pet cat or dog, it should be treated as part of the family.
Feed it, nuture it, sterilise it, love it and look after it!
New sick and injured cats arrive all the time.
We desperatly need donations to help pay some of the vet bills and up-keep for these cats, they have nobody else - can you help us.
You can sponsor any of the cats in our care, via our Sponsor page or you can just make a donation online, its quick and simple and can help us to save a cats life.
Columbo (named after the great TV detective, who died this summer) was found on the streets, sick and in very bad condition. His coat was so matted, he no longer had a fur coat, it was just a big lump of knots and muck, he was also suffering from cat-'flu'.The vet had to sedate Columbo to shave his matted fur & to see what else was wrong with this cat. 4 months on and his fur has grown back, he has tested negative for Feline Aids and FeLV. He now has a home in the Uk and will be travelling to his new happy life very soon.

CHICA IS IN THE UK - BUT STILL WAITING FOR A HOME OF HER OWN.
After many, many months waiting in Fuerteventura for their Pet Passport Requirments to complete - these 5 very special cats arrived at Gatwick airport just after midnight, on June 12th 2011.
It's now February 2012 and little Chica is still looking for a new home, she is a great cat, loves to play and have some attention. She is OK with some cats but would be better in a home with no other cats. She loves people. Is there anyone out there can will offer her a home.
Thank you so very much to our kind and careing members for adopting some of our cats and making a few hopes and dreams come true.
Chica, pictured below, is still in need of a forever home, if you can offer this please get in touch with Alun at: twinkletrust@btinternet.com or Jenny at: twinkletrust@aol.com

Do you have an apartment, house or villa we could use?
In November 2012 Twinkle will be carrying out the Spring feral cat neutering campaign, during this week we will sterilise and treat 100's of homeless cats and kittens.
Volunteers will be working around the clock as always, trying to reach as many needy cats as we can during this week. Its one week of hard work, with many highs and lows but the end result of less homeless kittens and sick cats is so worth it.
We are trying to make every penny we raise stretch as far as we can, which is why it would really help us, if you could accommodate the volunteer veterinary team during the month of November 2012. We will pay for the electricity and water used for our stay.
If you can help please contact:
Jenny at twinkletrust@aol.com, tel: 07958-990471
We will make sure the accommodation is clean and sparkling when we leave.

Mars Pet Care

Katie Orange, of Mars Pet Care have for the 3rd consecutive campaign donated 10 cases of Whiskas cat biscuits. This truly makes a huge difference to all the cats that rely on Twinkle for food.
2011
C&D Foods

John McNamee, Paul Warden & Simon Latham of C&D Foods - have for the 2nd time, very generously donated a £200 Tesco gift voucher to Twinkle.
All of this food has been taken out to Fuerteventura, free of freight charges thanks to the help of Thomas Cook Airlines.
We use a minimum of 311 tins of cat food every month, plus lots of dry cat food. With the cost of a regular tin of food in Fuerteventura as much as anything from 80p - £1.00, it is a tremendous strain on our funds.
