Although we travel out to Fuerteventura twice a year to carry out neutering campaigns, we are actually working 365 days of the year on the island. A handful of kind volunteers travel all over the island doing as much work as they can to help sick or injured cats. We do not have a rehoming centre and manage with only a small number of foster cages for the most desperate cats and of course as soon as we are able to release a cat once it has recovered from illness we have a long list of cats or kittens in desperate situations waiting to come in.

During our biannual neutering campaigns all our work is carried out by volunteer veterinarian's, veterinary nurses and helpers, which means we can help a tremendous number of cats as we only need to find the cost of the raw materials. 

When the Twinkle volunteers are not on the island we work closely with some excellent local veterinary clinics and we do receive discounts from the normal cost's but veterinary charges are considerably higher in the Canaries, as is the cost of pet food and supplies. Which is why we must constantly strive to raise enough funds to ensure we can provide the help these cats so desperately need and would otherwise not get when we are not on the island.

What your donation can buy:

£0.85p 1 tin of regular cat food. We need 311 tins of cat food every month for our farm cats, plus cat biscuits.

£1.20 1 tin of special diet food for a sick or convalesing cat.

£3.50 wormer treatment for 1 cat.

£5.10 flea and worm treatment for 1 cat.

£12 would buy a cat basket/bed and litter tray.

£20 provides enough oral antibiotics to treat 10 cats.

£35 will provide the dry food for 1 week for 53 homeless cats.

£55 would pay for the castration of a male cat (carried out by a local vet).

£75 would pay for the sterilisation of a female cat (carried out by a local vet).

£150 means we can purchase the materials needed and install a cat café in an area where the cats would otherwise starve or cause great annoyance to the hotel management or local residents.

£150 will enable us to have essential operations carried out, such as a bowel biopsy's on cats which do not respond to any other remedies for conditions as acute and prolonged diarrhoea.

£320 means we can pay to repair a cats broken limb rather than have the cat put to sleep.
